EcoScapes Sustainability Solutions
Making Sustainability Goals Accessible

Sustainability has become a top priority for organizations across various industry sectors. Committed to achieving their Net Zero targets through eco-friendly operations and sustainable built spaces, they constantly seek novel ways to control emissions and reduce carbon footprints. However, this is easier said than done, as identifying the ‘right’ sustainability standards without the required resources and expertise often leads to undesirable outcomes and increased costs.

Lisa Wynne, a seasoned sustainability consultant, addresses this need through EcoScapes Sustainability Solutions. Since 2010, she has leveraged her comprehensive industry experience to offer expertise in calculating building and corporate emissions and designing more sustainable architecture.

Throughout her journey helping diverse businesses, Wynne recognized that only a few employed the triple bottom line approach, which measures an endeavor’s financial performance in the context of its social and environmental impact. Another problem she noticed is that average business components like accountants and lawyers were often unaware of the ecological intricacies of the built spaces, value chains and their carbon footprint impact. Using the gathered baseline data, Wynne informs these members of how to achieve carbon neutrality over a set timeline without exceeding their organizational budgets.

“Rather than diving into sustainability for the sake of it, we help a company understand their carbon footprint and create plans targeted to their specific needs and overarching objectives,” says Wynne.

Operating with a vision where all businesses share the triple bottom line methodology when green-lighting a project, EcoScapes focuses on educating clients on how to effectively meet their sustainability goals. This competency is complemented by Wynne, who analyzes a client’s baseline data, be it a manufacturing, technology-based or corporate operation, before creating customized sustainability targets. In contrast to models that focus on buying sustainability or acquiring renewable energy credits, her advice primarily revolves around the integration of sustainability into core operations. This boosts business growth and reduces building footprints in a cost-effective manner.

Recently, Wynne assisted a multimillion-dollar business newly drawn into sustainability by their customer. EcoScapes generated their yearly carbon footprint baseline from a history of accurate data. This enabled her to strategically define the business and their end-user objectives from a general and sustainability angle to produce a favorable roadmap. Predicting they could achieve carbon neutrality by 2029, the roadmap stumped the client, who thought the goal was unachievable. Wynne changed their perspective by deploying the triple bottom line approach, which simplified the injection of sustainability into their product, operations and expansion initiatives.

At the heart of successes like this is the EcoScapes™ Solve, an automated emissions calculator that evaluates service providers, utility and power bills and maintenance records to acquire emission results without hiring a dedicated sustainability consultant. Its advanced automation enables users to easily get the right answers and reliably comply with California Statute 253 (Climate Corporate Data Accountability Act) and Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) laws. Beyond its present offerings of Scope 1 and Scope 2 emission calculators, EcoScapes plans to launch Scope 3 in 2025.

Adding to these capabilities is EcoScapes Verified, which is powered by the licensed assurance providers on its team, who thoroughly verify a client’s sustainability-related data and generate verification reports through the AA1000 Assurance Standard. As a licensed provider, Wynne enables businesses to directly submit data to climate disclosure projects (CDPs) and related authorities to meet authentication requirements without hiring dedicated personnel for sustainability verification.

Moving forward, Wynne is set to launch new programs aligned with the latest SEC regulations and California Statute 253 and advance emission calculations with automation. From a partnership standpoint, she is looking to spark collaborations with diverse businesses, helping them achieve sustainability goals and overcome cost-related challenges confidently and easily.
